Target Participants

This conference is targeted at all who are involved in research management in various institutions as well as faculty members interested in undertaking cutting edge research including (but not limited to):

• Vice-Chancellors, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Directors of Research Institutes
• Provosts/ Deans of Faculties/Colleges
• Senior academics and researchers from Universities and Research Institutes
• Researchers (including early career researchers) and Research Administrators; Planning Officers in Government, Parastatals and Non-Governmental Organizations
• Other categories of individuals desirous of acquiring skills in research management

Background to the 4th Annual WARIMA Conference

Call for Abstracts/Papers

Abstracts are invited from interested participants on any topic within the context of the conference theme. Abstracts should be submitted by Friday, August 27, 2010. Presenters will be notified of the acceptance of their abstracts and the appropriate session for presentation – the full papers should be submitted by Friday, October 29, 2010. Papers will be peer reviewed; only accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

Guidelines

Abstracts must not exceed 300 WORDS and must follow the following format:

1. Word processing should be with MS Word, Font size 12pts Times New Roman, 2.5cm margins all round, justified margins and double spaced.
2. Printing should be done on one side only.
3. The abstract should be submitted by email as an attachment to Dr Emmanuel Bailey at umuniversity@yahoo.com with a copy to Ms Teju Ajao at warimaoffice@yahoo.com. This is mandatory as only abstracts received by email will be processed. An additional hard copy may be submitted to the conference secretariat.
4. All contact details (including cell phone, email, mailing address) should be provided to ensure that presenters can easily be reached.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 1600 hrs GMT on Friday, August 27, 2010.

Venue

The conference is being hosted by the United Methodist University (UMU), Monrovia, Liberia and will be held at the Monrovia City Hall.

Conference & Workshop Programme

Workshops on Grants Proposal Writing, Basic Research Principles, Ethics, IP, and Contracts will be held on day one of the conference which is Wednesday December 1, 2010.

The 2nd Annual Carnegie Project Meeting - the 2010 annual meeting for the Carnegie Project to Strengthen Research Management in African Universities will be held (as a parallel session ) on day three of the conference, which is Friday 03 December.  **This meeting is for project participants only
